AirPods Pro Review: Apple's Latest Earbuds Are Great, If You Can

Persona #3 · Vol: 0

Another year, another pair of white plastic earbuds that Apple wants you to drop a car payment on.

The newest AirPods Pro have landed, and the internet has already split into two camps: people who swear they can hear God whispering through the active noise cancellation, and people who think $249 is a typo that somehow made it to production.

I've been living with these things for a couple weeks now, mostly to see if they justify the hype or if we're all just Stockholm-syndromed into buying whatever Cupertino ships.

The noise cancellation is genuinely impressive, the kind that makes your loudest coworker sound like they're yelling at you from inside a pillow fort.

Transparency mode is still the gold standard, letting you hear the barista judge your order without yanking the buds out.

Surprisingly comfortable, even for those of us cursed with weird ear canals.

Bass is punchier, vocals are cleaner, and Apple finally seems to understand that "premium audio" shouldn't mean "flat and boring." Are these going to make audiophiles weep with joy?

But for commuters, gym rats, and anyone who just wants their podcast to not sound like it's coming through a soup can, they're more than fine.

Now the part that'll get me downvoted into oblivion.

Not great, not terrible, just aggressively fine.

You'll get through a workday, barely, and then you'll be hunting for that little white case like it's the last charger at an airport gate.

For this price, "fine" feels like Apple is daring you to complain.

It still scratches if you look at it wrong.

It still attracts lint like it's getting paid.

And yes, you'll still need to buy a separate cable because apparently we're all just pretending USB-C wasn't the obvious move years ago.

The real question is whether you should upgrade, and the answer depends entirely on which dusty pair you're currently using.

Coming from the original AirPods or some $30 gas station specials?

Save your money and maybe buy groceries instead, because the improvements are real but they're not "spend another $249" real.

You can technically use these, but you'll lose half the features and look like you're texting on an iPad Mini.

Just get something from Sony or Bose and keep your dignity.

Here's the thing nobody wants to admit: these are excellent earbuds trapped in a pricing strategy designed to make you feel poor.

If you've got the cash and you're already in Apple's ecosystem, they're an easy recommend.

If you're on the fence, wait for a sale, because there's always a sale. **The Verdict:** Buy them if you want the best mainstream wireless earbuds and don't mind paying the Apple tax.

Final Thoughts

Skip them if you're happy with what you've got, because your wallet will thank you and your ears honestly won't notice the difference.
