Heroes Of The Storm Players Demand A Sequel In 2024

Persona #3 · Vol: 1000
Let me tell you about a support group that never actually meets up but somehow still argues every single day. It's called the Heroes of the Storm subreddit, and it is a gorgeous, feral little ecosystem of cope. In case you forgot, Blizzard's MOBA got the corporate equivalent of a "we need to talk" text back in 2018, when the studio gutted its esports scene and quietly reassigned the dev team to other projects. The game didn't die. It just entered a state of suspended animation, like a Simpsons character frozen mid-blink, waiting for a revival that is statistically never coming. And yet, the players remain. They queue up. They brawl over objectives. They type "gg" after getting absolutely dumpstered by a Kael'thas who somehow landed every single Living Bomb while their tank was busy doing... whatever tanks do instead of tanking. Here's the thing that makes Heroes weirdly fascinating in 2024. It's the only MOBA where you don't spend the first twenty minutes last-hitting minions like a depressed accountant. No items. No gold. Just shared XP, map objectives, and pure, unadulterated team-fight chaos. It's the MOBA for people who looked at League of Legends and said, "What if this took less time and caused only moderate instead of catastrophic brain damage?" Blizzard still technically supports it. There's a seasonal rotation. Balance patches show up every few months like a relative who only calls on your birthday. The community, meanwhile, has taken matters into its own hands. Fan-made tournaments. Community balance discussions. People making tier lists with the confidence of a man reviewing a restaurant he's never visited. The real question is why anyone's still here. And honestly? It's the heroes. You've got a cowboy who fans the hammer. A frog samurai. A literal lost Viking trio you have to micro-manage like a stressed-out air traffic controller. A space lord who is just a guy named Artanis cosplaying. Nobody else is making this stuff. Then there's the crossover factor. Heroes is basically Smash Bros. for people who peaked in a 2015 dorm room. You can have Diablo, Kerrigan, and a cybernetic hamster ride into battle together. It's absurd. It's beautiful. It's the only place where you can watch Deckard Cain—yes, the old man who tells you to stay a while and listen—brawl with a demon hunter. So here's my closing take. Heroes of the Storm is the ex that Blizzard ghosted, and the community is still texting "hey, you up?" at 2 a.m. It deserves better, the players deserve better, and frankly, we all deserve one more patch that finally makes Chen viable. Give us the sequel, Blizzard. Or at least an apology.
